Cynthia Lucero-Obusan, MD CIC - Medical Epidemiology, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Public Health Surveillance and Research Group.
Dr. Lucero-Obusan serves as a Medical Epidemiologist for the Veterans Health Administration Public Health Surveillance and Research Group and a Hospital Epidemiologist for the VA Palo Alto Health Care System. Her research focus and interests include respiratory viruses (influenza, RSV and SARS-CoV-2), viral gastroenteritis (including norovirus), fungal infections (including coccidioidomycosis), emerging infectious diseases, infection control and hospital epidemiology, outbreak and lookback investigations and public health informatics. She is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley (BA, 1997), University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (MD, 2003), Children's Hospital of Pittburgh of UPMC (Pediatrics Residency, 2006), CDC Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS '06) and the University of Illinois at Chicago School of Public Health (Graduate Certificate in Public Health Informatics, 2019). She is Board Certified in Pediatrics and Infection Prevention and Control (CIC).
