Ms. Katharine (Kate) Cooley, MPH is an epidemiologist with the Bacterial Diseases Branch of the Division of Vector-Borne Diseases within the National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In this position she has worked on systematic literature reviews on plague and tularemia which led to the development of updated guidelines for treatment and prophylaxis of plague. She obtained her B.S. in Biological Sciences with a minor in Chemistry from the University of Tulsa in 2015. During her undergraduate career, she conducted research in organic chemistry and biology laboratories and she studied biodiversity and natural resource management abroad in Madagascar. She earned a Master of Public Health degree in May 2018 from the Colorado School of Public Health. During her masters program, she also served as a community health and malaria prevention Peace Corps volunteer in Togo, West Africa through the Peace Corps' masters International program.
