Melissa Kretschmer, M.A., is the epizoologist with Maricopa County Department of Public Health. Ms. Kretschmer has bachelor’s degrees in Veterinary Science and Microbiology from University of Arizona, and a master’s degree in Global Health from Arizona State University. She is a certified veterinary technician, working in emergency and dermatology fields. She joined Maricopa County Department of Public Health, Office of Epidemiology, October 2011. As an epidemiologist, she has been involved in surveillance and response activities for a variety of communicable diseases, and assisted in quality improvement and assurance efforts and protocol development. As the epizoologist, she serves as the subject matter expert it vector-borne and zoonotic diseases.
