Naissem Andemel, MD/MPH is a fourth-year resident in the combined Kaiser Permanente San Francisco-University of California San Francisco internal medicine/preventive medicine residency program, through which she was able to intern at the Alameda County Public Health Department. Her parents are from Chad, but she spent her childhood in many African and European countries, allowing her to interact with people from varied backgrounds. This ultimately led her to aspire to a career that would allow her to work closely with people and make an impact both at the individual and population level on one of the most basic and essential need humans have: health.
Naissem Andemel moved to the United States after graduating from high school and obtained her medical degree from the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in 2019. She is interested in global health, infectious diseases, and women’s health. Her research so far has specialized in vector borne diseases, which disproportionately affect the most vulnerable populations: women and children. Outside of medicine, she is interested in traveling, reading, and spending time with her nephews/niece.
