My name is Miguel A. Chavez and I am an Instructor in Medicine Department of Internal Medicine and Division of Hospital Medicine and Infectious Diseaes. I was born in Lima, Peru and graduated from the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia medical school in 2013. I completed a Masters in Science focused on Research and Epidemiology from the same university in 2014, and then went to do global health training through the UJMT Fogarty Global Health Fellowship program at John Hopkins University sponsored by the NIH Fogarty International Center. I then completed internal medicine internship and residency at University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. I then moved to St. Louis to complete fellowship in Infectious Diseases at Barnes-Jewish Hospital / Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. I am also interested in medical education and co-founded the Infectious Diseases Fellows Network which serves as a collaborative platform to improve education among fellows. My current areas of interest are medical education, infections in immunosuppressed patients, hospital epidemiology, and antimicrobial stewardship.
