Mauricio received his PharmD at Texas Southern University in 2003 and is board certified in Pharmacotherapy, Critical Care, and Infectious Disease. Mauricio has had eleven years of clinical experience, which he was the Critical Care and Infectious Disease Specialist, Clinical Manager, and Director of Pharmacy while at Christus Spohn Health System in Corpus Christi, TX. In 2011, he became the Regional Critical Care and Infectious Disease Specialist and co-chair of the antimicrobial stewardship committee for the Baptist Health System in San Antonio, TX. He has also held teaching appointments at both Texas A&M University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and the University of Texas College of Pharmacy and Health Science Center, in the areas of critical care and infectious disease.
After eleven years of clinical practice and academia, Mauricio, began his career in industry at The Medicines Company where he was a Director of Global Health Science for Infectious Disease for three years where he was the lead scientist in health outcomes working with GPOs. Since 2018, Mauricio has been employed at Paratek Pharmaceuticals as a Director of Medical Science, which he was later promoted to a Senior Director position. He is currently working at Spero Therapeutics as the Senior Director of Medical Payer Strategy and Health Economics Outcomes Research (HEOR). In addition, he obtained a MS in Health Economics Clinical Outcomes Research (HECOR) at Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH in December of 2021. He is a member of SIDP, IDSA, ACCP, SCCM, and ESCMID. Research interests include antimicrobial resistance, health outcomes research, and real-world evidence generation.
