Becca A. Flitter, PhD MPH, Associate Director Immunology at Vaxart Inc.
I am a research scientist passionate about studying clinical immunology, infectious diseases and conducting cutting edge research that reduces global disease burden and improves patient outcomes. I received my doctorate at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, where I trained in a mucosal immunology laboratory and gained valuable research experience investigating host-pathogen interactions. I also have a Master’s in Public Health from the University of California, Berkeley, which instilled in me the desire to ask scientific questions that are clinically relevant and have a significant impact on public health. Prior to my doctoral training I spent multiple years conducting vaccinology research at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in Oakland, evaluating long term efficacy of bacterial vaccines. Currently as Associate Director in the Research Immunology department at Vaxart Inc. my goal is to ask critical questions in the field of vaccinology, identifies new mechanisms of protection along mucosal surfaces and understand correlates of protection following immunization.
