Major Brennan R. Cebula is a research physician in the U.S. Military HIV Research Program, Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, Silver Spring, MD. He is also an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS), Bethesda, MD.
Major Cebula a native of Boswell, Pennsylvania. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 2004 as an infantryman, and served three years with 2nd Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) to include a 12-month deployment to Baghdad, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom IV.
He subsequently attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania via the U.S. Army ROTC Green-to-Gold Scholarship Program and graduated Magna Cum Laude, and as a Distinguished Military Graduate in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a commission as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He went on to attend Drexel University College of Medicine via the U.S. Army Health Professions Scholarship Program and earned his Doctor of Medicine degree in 2015.
Major Cebula completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Madigan Army Medical Center, Tacoma, WA in 2018 and was then selected by the program faculty and his peers to serve for an additional year after graduation as the Chief of Medical Residents. He subsequently completed Infectious Disease Fellowship at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Bethesda, MD in 2022. He also earned the Master of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene degree from USUHS in 2022. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in the specialties of Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease.
