Ayesha Appa is an Infectious Diseases and Addiction Medicine fellow at UCSF. She attended UCSF medical school, where she became interested in the relationship between social determinants of health and infectious diseases, then completed Internal Medicine residency and an inpatient chief residency year at the University of Washington and Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. She returned to UCSF for fellowship in 2018 and is now board-certified in both Infectious Diseases and Addiction Medicine, building a career in clinical investigation of effective, patient-centered models of care for persons with infectious complications of drug use.
