Dr. Lyssette L. Cardona MPH,MHA,FIDSA,FACP is an American board-certified Internist and Infectious Diseases consultant and currently is Regional Chief Wellness Officer at Cleveland Clinic Florida and ID Department Chair at Cleveland Clinic Florida-Martin. Dr.Cardona completed her undergraduate work at University of Puerto Rico, and her medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico Medical School in the USA. She went on to do additional training in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Infectious Diseases at Tulane University Medical School and Affiliated Hospitals in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA with an additional Masters in Public Health, Preventative Medicine and Epidemiology.
Dr. Cardona successfully joined Cleveland Clinic Florida in 2002 where she has held many leadership roles, led many initiatives and programs over the last 19 years until she relocated her practice to Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi in 2014 where she continued her work as a global leader. She has now returned to practice in the USA since January 2021.
Dr. Cardona is passionate about promoting the empowerment of all employees towards a holistic view of their health, wellness and joy in work. She has completed additional training in health administration (MHSA) and is an alumni of the prestigious Cleveland Clinic Foundation Samson Academy, Leading in Healthcare in 2012, the Middle East INSEAD Leadership Program in 2015 and the Stanford WellMD CWO Course in 2021.
Dr. Cardona has been recognized for her many contributions in the community to advance healthcare and for her achievements to promote and empower women in the field of medicine and is actively involved as a member of the IDSA Leadership Academy Working Group from 2019 to date. On a personal note, she enjoys reading and traveling with her family to promote joy in her life.
