Tristan Ferry graduated from the Claude Bernard Lyon 1 University, Lyon, France and has trained in Internal Medicine and Infectious and Tropical Diseases in Hospices Civils de Lyon, France (Dr. med. obtained in 2006). He obtained a PhD thesis in 2007 and obtained the degree “Habilitation à Diriger les Recherches” (HDR, the French post-doctoral degree allowing its holder to supervise PhD students) in 2011 (Claude Bernard Lyon 1 University). He completed his postgraduate studies in Geneva, Switzerland by working in the field on HIV and S. aureus bone and joint infections (BJI). Currently, he is the co-head of the Infectious and Tropical disease unit in Hospices Civils de Lyon and participated to the conception of our brand new building dedicated to infectious diseases (45 beds including modular sectors of 12 high-level isolation bed). He is also head of the regional reference center for the management of complex BJI (also called CRIOAc Lyon), the co-Head of the Lyon BJI group (a multidisciplinary group with colleagues specialized in infectious disease, surgery, microbiology, imaging, nuclear medicine and drug’s pharmacokinetic), and a member of the International Center for Infectiology Research (StaPath team). His main topic of research is the promotion of innovative treatments, by systemic and/or local administrations in patients with bone and joint infection. He is particularly involved in the promotion and evaluation of bacteriophage/phagotherapy and combination of local antibiotics in patients with bone and joint infection. He is one of the inauguration committee member of the new ESCMID Study Group for Non-traditional Antibacterial Therapy ESGNAT and has been elected in April 2022 as member of the executive committee as Clinical Officer. As president of the national CRIOAc scientific committee, he would like to facilitate the performance of multicentric clinical trials in France, to evaluate academic and industrial new treatment options.
