Diana grew up in Maryland, studied biochemistry at the University of Maryland, and earned her MD at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She did her internship at Washington University in St. Louis, then moved to Seattle to complete her residency at the University of Washington. She worked as an academic hospitalist at the University of Washington for two years before moving back to Maryland for ID fellowship. Her background includes work with tumor immunology at the National Cancer Institute and with the gut microbiome at the University of Pittsburgh. Her current academic interests include public health, vaccinology, and medical education. She is working with Dr. Anna Durbin to study the antibody-dependent enhancement of dengue infection, as well as the cross-reactivity between the dengue and Zika viruses, especially in the context of vaccine development.
