Shirley Shapiro Ben David, MD , Maccabi Healthcare Services, Tel Aviv, Israel
Shirley Shapiro Ben David graduated from Hadassah medical school, Hebrew University, Jerusalem, in 2008. She specialized family medicine in Maccabi Healthcare Services, Tel Aviv, Israel, in 2009-2013. She is working as a family physician in a clinic in Tel Aviv since 2013.
She started worked in the Infectious Diseases unit, Wolfson Medical Center in Holon, Israel, since 2016 and in 2019 completed her Fellowship in Infectious Diseases. She continued working in the infectious disease unit in Wolfson medical center, Holon, Israel, as a senior ID physician until 2022.
Since 2021 she is the Head of Infectious disease unit and chief consultant in Maccabi Healthcare Services, the second largest Health Maintenance Organization in Israel.
Her current research / scientific interests focus on vaccine preventable infections, antimicrobial stewardship, the efficacy and safety of vaccines against COVID-19 and COVID-19 care in the community. Shirley has contributed peer-reviewed articles publications and has presented her research work in National and International congresses.
Shirley is a member of Israeli association of family medicine, Israel association of public health physicians, the Israeli HIV Medical Society, the Israeli Infectious Diseases Society and IDSA.
Shirley is a mother of 4 children, lives with her husband and kids in Israel and enjoys swimming and baking.
