Mamta K. Jain, M.D., M.P.H. F.I.D.S.A, is a Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in infectious diseases and conducts clinical trials to evaluate new therapies for HIV, hepatitis C, influenza, and now COVID-19. Her research focuses on improving clinical outcomes for those with HIV and viral hepatitis, and she has received significant grant support for her work.
Dr. Jain earned her medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine. She completed a residency in internal medicine at Baylor Affiliated Hospitals and received advanced training through an infectious diseases fellowship at UT Southwestern. She also earned an M.P.H. in epidemiology/statistics at the University of Texas Houston School of Public Health – Dallas branch. Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in infectious diseases, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2002.
During the global COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Jain has been at the forefront of conducting clinical trials for patients with COVID-19 in order to find effective therapies.
Dr. Jain is a Fellow of the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) and is on the Board of Directors for HIV Medicine Association. She is also a member of the IDSA Guidelines Committee for Infection Prevention for COVID-19. Dr. Jain has been a member of IDSA Standards and Practice Guidelines Committee, HIV Primary Care Guidance Committee, and Urinary Tract Treatment Guideline Committee.
She has delivered scores of international, national, and regional invited lectures and published a number of academic articles.
