Zeshan Chisty, MPH, is an epidemiologist with CDC’s Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion (DHQP). Previously he was a CSTE Applied Epidemiology Fellow and then the Healthcare Associated Infections (HAIs) Coordinator at the Hawaii Department of Health. In Hawaii, he was responsible for improving surveillance and outbreak response, and growing the HAI program to include public reporting, antibiotic stewardship, infection prevention and control (IPC) assessments, etc. Zeshan earned his Master of Public Health from the University of North Texas Health Science Center. In his current role, he is working to improve HAI surveillance and IPC amongst Indian Health Services hospitals, co-leads DHQPs efforts to improve IPC in the Pacific, and responds to public health emergencies. For the COVID-19 response, he has done several rotations through CDC’s emergency operations center, has deployed multiple times, drafted IPC guidance documents, and conducted remote IPC facility assessments. Additionally, he was the field lead for the Protecting the Elderly: Evaluation of COVID-19 Correlates and Understanding Vaccine Effectiveness in Nursing Home Residents (PROTECTS) project.
