Dr Upadhyayula completed his medical traning in Osmania medical college in India. He finished post graduate training in pediatrics from Niloufer Hospital for Women and Children in India. After this he moved to the United Kingdom where he obtained his Membership with the Royal college of Pediatrics.
He worked as a specialist registrar with the National health service before moving the United States
In USA he worked as a pediatric resident at Childrens hospital of Michigan and finished fellowship training in Childrens hospital of Pittsburgh, University of Pittsburgh Medical center.
Dr Shankar Upadhyula, is currently the Director of the Division of Infectious diseases at Akron childrens Hospital in Akron, Ohio. He is also the Director of the Antimicrobial stewardship program at Akron childrens Hospital. He hold the academic appointment of Associate Professor at the North East Ohio Medical University, Rootstown, Ohio.
Dr Upadhyayula is board certified with American board of pediatrics and American board of pediatric subspecialities. He is also a Fellow, Infectious disease society of America.
