Akira A. Shishido, MD is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Virginia Commonwealth University Division of Infectious Diseases. After training in medicine at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, he spent four years working in operational medicine landing in Kuwait, Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan. He then trained in Infectious Disease at University of Maryland and became involved in clinical research working on shigella and SARS-CoV-2 vaccines. He began clinical work at VCU in 2022.
