Carol Weyhmuller MS, MT(ASCP), CIC- Manager, Infection Prevention Main Line Health System (Pennsylvania).
I have a Master's degree in Clinical Microbiology and started my career working in a Clinical Microbiology laboratory. During that time, I had the great privilage to teach Microbiology at Neumann University in Aston, Pennsylvania. I enjoyed sharing my passion for Microbiology with Nursing and Clinical Laboratory Science students. I became very interested in Epidemiology after attending a class taught by the Philadelphia Department of Health. It was at that time I decided to pursue a career in Infection Prevention. I began my career in Infection Prevention at Nemours, AIDuPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington Delaware. After getting experience and my CIC certification, I joined the Infection Prevention team at Main Line Health supporting Lankenau Medical Center. In 2021 I assumed a system role as a manager. Main Line Health System includes four acute care hospitals, one rehabilitiation hospital, a drug and alcohol recovery center and over 100 ambulatory practices and 4 Urgent Cares. Infection Prevention plays a crucial role in patient safety and has proved to be a rewarding career for me.
