Kazuhiro Horiba, M.D., Ph.D., belonging to the Christian Giske group, Division of Clinical Microbiology, Department of Laboratory Medicine (LABMED), Karolinska Institutet in Sweden, as a visiting researcher. Affiliation in Japan is the Department of Genetics, Research Institute of Environmental Medicine (RIEM), Nagoya University, as an assistant professor. I obtained my medical license in Japan in 2010 and worked as a pediatrician until 2021; I got my Ph.D. in 2019 for the application NGS technique to diagnose bloodstream infections; from 2021, I am working as a researcher at Karolinska Institutet. I have developed a pipeline "PATHDET" for detecting pathogenic micro-organisms in clinical metagenomic data and published it on my website.
