I am Dr. Mala V. Kaneria, a Professor and Unit Chief in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases at B.Y.L Nair Charitable Hospital and T.N. Medical College and at Kasturba Hospital for Infectious Diseases, Mumbai India. I am also a Consultant in Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine at Jaslok Hospital and Research Centre, Mumbai India. I am practicing since the past 30 years. My area of expertise is diagnosis and treatment of fevers of unknown origin, infections in Bone marrow transplant patients, tropical infections like malaria, leptospirosis, dengue, chikungunya, neurocysticercosis, tuberculosis (both pulmonary and extrapulmonary), oportunistic infections in HIV and infcetions with drug resistant organisms. I have numerous publications in peer reviewed journals and authored many textbook chapters. I teach undergraduate and postgraduate medical students and dental students. I have guided more than 25 postgraduate students with their thesis topic. I have delivered talks on various topics in infectious diseases and presented both free papers and posters at various conferences. I am an active member of the Hospital Infection Control Committee at all the hospitals that I am attached to. I am a reviewer for Open Forum Infectious Diseases (OFID) and am on the advisory board of The Journal of Association of Physicians of India (JAPI)
