Dr. Ashfaq Shafiq, PharmD, BCPS, BCCCP, BCIDP, is a clinical pharmacy specialist and antimicrobial stewardship program manager at VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System (VASNHS). Prior to becoming and ID/ASP pharmacist, Dr. Shafiq had been practicing as a critical care pharmacist for almost five years. He has started the antimicrobial stewardship program at VASNHS since 2017 and been actively involved in implementing new pharmacist-initiated protocols and policies for both inpatient and outpatient settings to optimize antibiotic utilization. In addition, Dr. Shafiq is passionate about research, precepting pharmacy residents, and providing staff education.
