Kenneth E. Sherman received his BS & PhD (Microbiology) from Rutgers University and his MD from George Washington University. Currently, he holds an endowed chair as the Gould Professor of Medicine, and serves as the Director of the Division of Digestive Diseases at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Dr. Sherman’s research interests center around viral hepatitis and the pathogenesis, evaluation and treatment of liver disease in those with HIV infection. He is an NIH-funded researcher and holds several patents. Dr. Sherman is the author of over 250 articles, abstracts and book chapters on viral hepatitis and other areas of liver disease. He has held numerous leadership positions in the field including serving as the immediate past Chair of the Liver/Biliary Section of the AGA Institute Council, and as former member of the AASLD/IDSA/IAS-USA HCV Guidelines Committee.
