Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School
Massachusetts General Hospital, MA, United States
Michael Mansour is a physician-scientist who started his research career in the biotech sector and graduated with MD/PhD dual degrees from Boston University School of Medicine with a research concentration in immune responses against invading pathogens.
He completed his medical residency at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) in Boston, MA where he also served as a Chief resident, before completing the Harvard combined Infectious Diseases training program at the MGH and the Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Dr. Mansour joined the MGH ID faculty in 2014 and now attends on the clinical Transplant Infectious Diseases and Immunocompromised Host Service, where he cares for solid and stem cell transplant recipients and those individuals with weakened immunity.
Dr. Mansour is an investigator overseeing an NIH RO1-funded laboratory with a focus on innate immune responses to infectious pathogens. The focus of his laboratory is neutrophil responses to invasive fungal infections, specifically Candida and Aspergillus species. He directs several immunology and infectious diseases clinical trials aimed at immune profiling patients for improved prognostication and risk stratification. His work has contributed to several technological advances centered on the generation of neutrophils as cellular therapies as well as immune augmentation. Finally, Dr. Mansour sits on several committees for the development of treatment guidelines for Transplant infectious diseases, immunomodulatory treatments, and COVID-19 infection.
