Dr. Julia Lewis is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Utah, serves as the Healthcare Epidemiologist for the Salt Lake City VA Medical Center, and provides outreach infectious disease clinical care for the Montana VA Medical Center. She completed her Internal Medicine residency training at Indiana University and then fellowship in Infectious Diseases at the University of Utah, where she served at the Chief Fellow in her final year of training. Post-fellowship, she was the clinical expert for the SLC VA-based informatics group who develop operational tools for biosurveillance, antimicrobial stewardship, and infection control activities within VA. She assumed the healthcare epidemiology position at the SLC VA as the COVID-19 pandemic took off. In addition, she conducts health services research with particular interest in health disparities of infectious disease management in vulnerable US patient populations.
