Karen Levy is a Professor in the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences (DEOHS) at the University of Washington (UW) School of Public Health, with adjunct appointments in the Global Health and Epidemiology departments. Dr. Levy's research program focuses on the ecology and epidemiology of enteric (food and waterborne) diseases. Her research group applies microbiological and epidemiological methods to study water quality, food safety, interactions between enteric pathogens and the gut microbiome, and the impact of climate change on the transmission of diarrheal diseases. She has current major NIH-funded field projects in Ecuador and Mozambique. She served as a co-author for the 2021 IPCC Working Group II Sixth Assessment report chapter on ‘Key Risks across Sectors and Regions’, and is a member of the leadership team for the UW Center for Health and the Global Environment (CHanGE).
