CAPT (ret)
WRNMMC , MD, United States
LJ Belsito was asked to participate in the panel to share his story trying to access care from 2015-2021 while on active duty.
CAPT (ret) Belsito is an RN, MSN and Board Certified Case Manager who is hoping to change the the way practitioners address and care for a Transgender Patients who may come into your practice. He feels strongly that every patient deserves respect, and advocacy and is trying to help providers understand the importance of communication, listening, and assisting these patients navigating a very complex medical system. LJ decided to live his truth at 60 years old.
He has been speaking his truth and story to try to help those providing care to any and all TG patients who may come across your practices. It is time to open your eyes, ears and hearts to listen and assist these patients who may be at any age. These patients are from all ages, backgrounds, and each deserves the right to discuss their struggles, address them one at a time, and to help each patient live as their true selves.
We go into healthcare wanting to help, serve and hopefully heal patients. We are not there to judge, or impose our opinions on patients who are struggling mentally and physically. His hope is to prevent anyone from feeling that the only way out is suicide. We can and must provide this care in a compassionate way.
I do not have any relevant financial / non-financial relationships with any proprietary interests.
