Anurag N. Malani, MD, is the Medical Director of Healthcare Epidemiology, Special Pathogens, and the Antimicrobial Stewardship Programs at Trinity Health St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor. For the past decade, he has presented both nationally and regionally on topics related to antimicrobial stewardship and infection prevention, and how to translate best practices into improving clinical outcomes. He has been a clinical and health system leader and Infectious Diseases expert surrounding many aspects of COVID-19 response and management both locally and across the 93 hospitals of Trinity Health. His clinical practice relates to general infectious diseases and he is actively involved with teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows in infectious diseases. Dr. Malani is a fellow of both the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) and the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA). He currently serves as an Adjunct Clinical Professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Michigan and as an Adjunct Clinical Professor in the Department of Epidemiology at the University of Michigan School of Public Health. He is a certified physician executive through the American Association of Physician Leadership. He currently serves as the Community-Based Healthcare Epidemiologist Liaison for the SHEA Board of Trustees and on the Antimicrobial Resistance Committee for the IDSA. Dr. Malani has over 80 publications related to antimicrobial stewardship, infection prevention and clinical infectious diseases. Dr. Malani is currently serving as the President Elect of the Michigan Infectious Diseases Society.
