Shahab is currently appointed as the "Postdoctoral Research Fellow" at the Division of Pharmacoepidemiology and Clinical Pharmacology of the Utrecht University. He defended his PhD in ‘Pharmacoepidemiology’ at the Maastricht University in 2021, finished a master course in 'Vitality and Ageing' at the Leiden University in 2016, and graduated in 'General Medicine' from the Tehran University of Medical Sciences in 2011.
His main field of interest is studying drug utilisation, drug effectiveness and adverse effects in real-world settings using pharmacoepidemiological methodologies. Current projects that he is actively working on are: "Impact of EU Pregnancy Prevention Programme on Valproates & Retinoids utilisation in six European countries", "Risk awareness and adherence with EU regulatory communication on SARS-CoV-2 adenovirus vaccines regarding thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome (TTS)", and a large multinational epidemiological study on drug utilisation, comorbiditirtes and mortality risk post Covid-19 infection.
