Biographical Sketch:
I have been active in pharmacoepidemiology research for over 25 years. Initially, I was responsible for the development of the first database of UK electronic primary healthcare records. I currently provide pharmacoepidemiology consultancy to the pharmaceutical, biotech and healthcare sectors. My involvement ranges from scientific advice to complete study responsibility. This work spans therapeutic areas and vaccines with an emphasis on the optimal use of real world evidence including:
• Study design, conduct and reporting for safety, effectiveness and utilisation outcomes including PASS studies (see https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Gillian_Hall for a list of my published studies).
• Expertise in the selection and use of real world resources in observational research.
• Disease epidemiology including prevalence estimates for orphan drug designation.
• Both independent and joint international projects.
A member of ISPE since 1991 and a Fellow in 2004, I have served on the first board and on several Committees. I have chaired taskforces within the Database Special Interest Group including that for the publication of ISPE’s Guidelines for Good Database Selection and Use in Pharmacoepidemiology Research. I also contribute to European Network of Centres for Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacovigilance (ENCePP) groups, including those on the interpretation of non-interventional trials, Research Standards and Guidance, and Data Integration. I am an Editorial Board member of Pharmacoepidemiology and Drug Safety.
