Dr. Claudia Becker graduated as pharmacist at the University of Marburg, Germany. After gaining experience in hospital pharmacy in England and Germany, she completed her postgraduate education as a clinical pharmacist in Germany. Deepening her scientific skills, she pursued a PhD thesis in Pharmacoepidemiology at the University of Basel, Switzerland under supervision of Professor Meier from 2004 to 2007. After a short period of postdoctoral research at the University she joined the Epidemiology department of Novartis Pharma in Basel, Switzerland. In 2008 she moved to Singapore, where she has been closely collaborating with the Basel Pharmacoepidemiology Unit as well as being involved in freelance medical writing.
Since 2012 Claudia Becker has returned to Basel and resumed working as a research epidemiologist at the group of Professor Meier. In 2014 she attended the University of Michigan Summer Session in Epidemiology. Dr. Becker is currently supervising two doctoral students. Her current interests are in the area of drug safety (current focus: ophthalmology) as well as in paediatric pharmacoepidemiology (especially drug safety during breast feeding).
