Montse is a physician, preventive medicine specialist and epidemiologist with more than 25 years of experience in infectious diseases, general practice, public health, epidemiology and pharmacoepidemiology.
Following postgraduate studies in Tropical Medicine and a MSc in Infection and Health in the Tropics, Montse initiated her career in academia and non governmental organizations working in Spain and in a number of African countries. During this time she contributed, among others, to the establishment of a major malaria research center in Mozambique (the Manhiça Health Research Center).
In 1998 she joined the 2-years Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) program at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, USA, where she continued to work until 2005 with a key focus on respiratory infectious diseases and vaccine evaluation. During this time she gained her specialty in Preventive Medicine.
Since 2005 Montse has been working in the pharmaceutical industry (GSK Biologicals and Bayer AG) leading epidemiology teams and driving external partnerships enhancing the use of epidemiological data sources and methods for vaccine and drug development and post approval research.
Montse is currently based in Berlin, where she heads the Partnerships and Integrated Evidence Generation Office, at Bayer AG.
Montse is a member of the Board of Directors at ISPE and co-chair of ISPE's RWE Task Force COVID-19 subteam.
