Dr. Helga Gardarsdottir is associate professor at the Division of Pharmacoepidemiology & Clinical Pharmacology. Her primary research interests include the application and development of tools and approaches to evaluate the consequences of regulatory and clinical decision making and to improve robustness of pharmacoepidemiological safety studies used in benefit-risk evaluations. Within this scope her special focus is on bio-based therapies.
Dr. Gardarsdottir was trained as a pharmacist and a pharmacoepidemiologist. She is winner of a personal VENI prize from the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) and has led and participated in a number of international multi-country research projects including the IMI-PROTECT project. She is the co-lead for the Real-World Evidence task force of the International Society of Pharmacoepidemiology and associate editor of the journal 'Pharmacoepidemiology & Drug Safety'.
