John Lupo founded Grandma’s Bakery on the East side of St. Paul, Minnesota in 1978. He became a Certified Master Baker in 1989. In 1992 John moved the bakery to White Bear Lake, Minnesota. In 2022 he is celebrating his 44th Anniversary in business.
John is a former President of the Minnesota Bakers Association. He is the Past President of the White Bear Area Chamber of Commerce and just recently completed a two year term as President of the Retail Bakers of America.
He has been involved for years with local Marketfest and Manitou Days celebrations. In 2015 John helped organize the effort to create The World’s Longest Ice Cream Sundae.
Grandma’s Bakery is a wholesale / retail bakery with two locations in White Bear Lake Minnesota. John received the Duebner Award from the St Paul Area Chamber of Commerce in 2003 for small business excellence. In 2011 John was named business person of the year by the White Bear Area Chamber of Commerce. In 2016 John received the Small Business Excellence Award from Twin Cities Business Magazine.
In 2017 John conceived the idea for and founded National Bakery Day.
