Dr. Carter-Snell is full professor in the School of Nursing and Midwifery at Mount Royal University in Calgary, Canada. She is an experienced sexual assault nurse examiner (SANE-A), researcher and educator. Her educational materials include developing the first online SANE course in North America, development of numerous forensic certificate courses, the development of the BALD STEP injury guide for the IAFN core curriculum, a rural sexual assault course, emergency nursing certificate courses and content for the advanced trauma nursing program. Her clinical work has been almost exclusively trauma nursing, including ICU, Emergency, flight nursing and sexual assault/domestic violence team. Dr. Carter-Snell's research work includes studies of factors affecting injury with sexual assault, mental health issues with interpersonal violence, prevention of dating violence, understanding critical incident stress in nursing students, and men's experiences as victims of partner violence.
