Dr. Manasco holds a PhD in Nursing Education and Administration and is an educator, clinician, and former assistant dean with experience developing new academic programs and academic-practice partnerships, particularly in rural and underserved areas. Her current role at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center is to develop and implement initiatives that promote equity and reduce health disparities for residents of rural and underserved areas. She currently teaches undergraduate nursing courses in population health and the social determinatns of health. Dr. Manasco is a co-investigator of a grant team, SANE Training & Education through Partnerships for Underserved Populations (STEP UP), that was awarded the HRSA Advancing Nursing Education - Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners, a $1.5 million grant, in 2021. She is also a co-investigator of another grant team, Student Training & Education through Partnerships with Underserved Populations for Health Equity and Lifestyle Promotion (STEP UP and HELP) that was awarded the HRSA Nursing Education, Practice, Quality, and Retention - Mobile Health Training Program, a $3.9 million grant in 2022.
