Julie Weil is a rape survivor and busy activist for sexual assault issues nationwide. She is currently the executive director of the Not Just Me Foundation, a charity Julie set up as a resource for survivors of rape and a vehicle to increase global awareness about sexual violence. Julie was the inspiration behind Butterfly House, Palm Beach County’s centralized forensic exam center. Through her foundation, she supplies comfort care items for all the survivors who walk through the doors for an exam. Julie also travels the state of FL to train SANE nurses, winning the Florida Council Against Sexual Violence (FCASV) Survivor Activist of the Year in 2012 and 2016. She is an active member of the RAINN, (Rape Abuse and Incest National Network) National Speaker’s Bureau and is now on the Board of Directors of the FCASV. She has been effective in helping pass laws pertaining to the rape kit backlog on both the State and Federal levels and serves as the survivor representative on Palm Beach County’s Sexual Assault Response Team. Julie has trained thousands of law enforcement officers, SANE nurses, and attorneys about the importance of coordinated communication between agencies. Recently she spoke at the 2017 Conference for the International Association of Forensic Sciences in Toronto, Canada. Working with the US State Department for two years, Julie was part of a small team that opened the first rape crisis center in Egypt in 2016. In December 2017 traveled to Jalisco, Mexico on a similar project. Julie and her Foundation were recently highlighted in People magazine and are the subjects of an upcoming CNN documentary. She is devoted to making sure each victim of sexual violence is treated with compassion
