Samantha Mendez is the Forensic Nurse Supervisor for the Forensic Nursing Department at HonorHealth. She has been a forensic nurse examiner with the department since 2016 and holds a certification as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner for pediatric, adolescent, and adult survivors of sexual violence. She provides training and education to healthcare professionals, law enforcement, and other community members on topics such as sex trafficking, child abuse, and the community and healthcare response to violence. She also supports forensic nurse examiners across Arizona in education, training, and mentoring in order to ensure that survivors of sexual and domestic violence have access to compassionate, skilled, and experience healthcare providers. Her professional passions include caring for survivors of sex trafficking, reducing health disparities, and increasing access to medical-forensic examination in rural, underserved areas.
Samantha Mendez received her Master of Public Health from the University of Arizona and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Arizona State University. She has a background in Trauma Critical Care nursing, medical education, and research in health promotion programs.
