Andrea Greco BSN, RN, SANE-A, SANE- P has been a practicing registered nurse for 16.5 years. Ms. Greco earned her BS in Kinesiology from Kansas State University in 1999 and her BSN from Washburn University in 2005. She is currently working towards her Family Nurse Practitioner at Grand Canyon University. Ms. Greco started her nursing career in the emergency department where she developed an interest in forensic nursing, leading to Ms. Greco becoming a sexual assault nurse examiner in 2013. Ms. Greco is dual certified in SANE-A and SANE-P and has been a part of the forensic nurse examiner team at Memorial Hospital, University Colorado Health in Colorado Springs since 2013. This team provides medical forensic care to more than 2500 patients per year who are victims of violence (sexual assault, intimate partner violence, child abuse, elder abuse, strangulation, and human trafficking.) Part of Ms. Greco’s role on the forensic nurse examiner team is to provide medical forensic exams and consultations at Safe Passage, a local child advocacy programs. Ms. Greco has also worked as a SANE/SAFE Project Trainer to provide state wide education and technical assistance to health care professionals, law enforcement, prosecutors and advocates from 2017-2020. In addition, she provides clinical skills training through Memorial Hospital and Indian Health Services utilizing gynecological teaching assistants and teaching sexual assault care to providers. Ms. Greco has been actively involved in the development of multiple online educational opportunities, and has been a presenter at the International Association of Forensic Nurse’s annual conference in 2016.
