Cheryl Wier RN SANE-A SANE-P NYSAFE has 16 years of registered nursing experience, primarily in emergency nursing, forensic nursing, and nursing supervision. For the past fourteen years, she has practiced as a forensic nurse in rural northwestern Pennsylvania and is the Forensic Program Coordinator at Bradford Regional Medical Center. In 2016, Cheryl established an outpatient pediatric medical-forensic clinic in conjunction with the Children's Advocacy Center of McKean County which also serves several surrounding counties. In addition, in 2020 she assumed the role of pediatric SANE for the Southern Tier Children Advocacy Center which provides services to Cattaraugus and Allegany counties in western New York.
Cheryl represents forensic nurses on several statewide committees to improve the care of victims of interpersonal violence. She has presented educational sessions at emergency and forensic nursing conferences. She is the Clinical Nurse Coordinator and expert nurse team member for the Duquesne University ANE-SANE grant; whose purpose is to develop forensic nursing clinical skills as well as to provide support and education as the students advance from novice to experienced providers.
As PA IAFN President 2017-2019, her goals were achieved to provide quality education, mentoring, and resources to forensic nurses in Pennsylvania. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Forensic Nursing at Aspen University.
