Serena Valino is currently a Nurse Coordinator II at Cook County Hospital in Chicago Il. Her responsibilities consist of managing the daily operations in the hospital’s 99 bed emergency department and the development of the system wide medical forensic program. Serena’s greatest professional accomplishment has been co-authoring and managing a $1.5 million dollar grant to develop a medical forensic program that encompasses two hospitals and a correctional facility. As a graduate of the MSN: Nurse Executive Leadership program at Benedictine University, Serena believes that strong leadership is the driving force behind advancing the forensic field and improving our community's response to sexual violence. Her strengths in communication, education, and collaboration within various team settings have helped her to successfully service on the Illinois Chapter Board of Directors as Secretary and as a Director at Large. Outside of work, Serena focuses on raising two children under 5 and traveling.
