Cordelia an Assistant Attorney General, assigned to the Criminal Enforcement Division of the Illinois Attorney General’s Office. She is the Law Enforcement Training Project Coordinator for the Sexual Assault Incident Procedure Act. Cordelia is responsible for helping and supporting law enforcement agencies as they implement the law through adopting policies, training and other requirements of the Act. She is available to answer any questions as to law enforcement and their obligations and duties under the law. Cordelia is a committed prosecutor, having spent the majority of her 20+ year career as a Cook County State’s Attorney assigned to the criminal division, with extensive experience in investigating, preparing and trying sexual assault cases. Cordelia began her career as a public defender with the Cook County Public Defender’s Office and has practiced as a private criminal defense attorney which gives her the advantage of seeing cases and legal issues from all perspectives.Cordelia developed a curriculum for Trauma Informed Sexual Assault Investigation for law enforcement and prosecutors pursuant to the standards of the Comprehensive Guidelines as set out by the Attorney General’s Office. This curriculum is currently being used by at least nine different training teams across the state.Cordelia actively trains with these teams in 8 different Mobile Training Units. Cordelia teaches 7 of the 14 topic sections of the two day training, including Rape Myth, Neurobiology of Trauma, Report Writing, Trauma Informed Victim Interview, Considerations in Alcohol and Drug Facilitated Sexual Assaults, and Sex Crimes Law
