Dr. Wendy Darby is a Professor of Nursing in the Graduate Programs in the Anderson College of Nursing and Health Professions. Dr. Darby’s clinical specialty is pediatric health. She was instrumental in creating the first nurse practitioner-managed non-acute child abuse clinic in North Alabama. Wendy is a member of the Alabama Child Abuse Provider network and is trained as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE). She has published her research on school nurses caring for students receiving continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion therapy. Dr. Darby is also a Certified Nurse Educator and has co-authored research related to escape rooms in the simulation lab and leadership behaviors and patient safety competencies during multiple patient simulation experiences. She has also worked with nursing students and faculty to publish works on telehealth triage during the pandemic, motivational interviewing to increase breastfeeding rates, and successful mentorship of nurse practitioners.
