Lauren Wegener is currently practicing as a forensic nurse examiner. She is didactically trained through the International Association of Forensics Nurses approved program to provide acute and non-acute care for the adult, adolescent, and pediatric victims of sexual assault and abuse. Since 2018 she has worked as a forensic nurse examiner at a child advocacy center, including use of telemedicine and performing case reviews, as well as precepting new sexual assault nurse. She has experience with trial work consultation and expert testimony. She graduated with her BSN in 2009 from University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and is currently pursuing a forensic MSN, at Duquesne University. Lauren serves as a contributing member and active workgroup participant on the medical committee of the Child Advocacy Centers of Arkansas. Current projects include standardizing SANE policies, procedures, and practice within the state of Arkansas, research and literature review to author an article that will highlight the forensic nurse generalist role, and composition and lecture of formal presentations that cover the diverse and dynamic topics encompassed by the forensic nurse specialty in local, state, and national settings.
