Acting Chief of Intelligence
U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)
Mrs. Carrie Thompson was privileged to be selected as Acting Chief of Intelligence for the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in January 2022. In this role, Carrie serves as a strategic advisor to the Administrator of the DEA on Intelligence matters and is empowered to optimize the posture and efficiency of DEA’s Intelligence Program through a blended strategy of promoting a diverse and professional workforce, advancing intelligence tradecraft and data-driven law enforcement operations, and engaging global partners.
Carrie began her career as an Intelligence Research Specialist (IRS) in September 1998 assigned to the DEA Detroit Field Division Office.
During Carrie’s tenure with the DEA she has been deployed to Bogota, Colombia, Islamabad, Pakistan and Brussels, Belgium in addition to multiple assignments at DEA Headquarters. She has extensive experience in strategic intelligence, intelligence policy and compliance, and partner engagement. Carrie received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Notre Dame.
