Bonnie has been a member of the Royal Canada Mounted Police (RCMP) since 1996. She has had a diverse policing career, working in large urban centres, rural municipalities, and northern Indigenous communities.
Bonnie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Law from Carleton University. Bonnie is a strong advocate for wellness and mental health of policing professional and holds an international certification in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM). She is currently working to complete her CISM in Mass Disaster and Terrorism. In 2019, she was nominated by O Divisions Wellness Program. Nominees are recognized for the outstanding contribution to positive work environments, who strive for excellence in themselves and other.
In July 2021, she was appointed as the Director General of the national Serious & Organized Crime and Border Integrity programs for the RCMP, looking after areas including marine border operations, drug and firearms trafficking, contraband tobacco, and the strategy surrounding encrypted criminal communications. Since July 2022, Bonnie has been acting as the Assistant Commissioner of Federal Policing Criminal Operations at RCMP National Headquarters. This position overseas five complex program areas: Financial Crime, Cybercrime, Serious and Organized Crime, the Witness Protection Program, and Covert and Human Source Program.
