I began my police career in 1994 with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department (Charlotte, NC) after owning a restaurant in another state.
My career at the CMPD allowed me to enjoy many assignments in every facet of metropolitan policing: patrol, drug interdiction, various investigative and community policing assignments along with leading both patrol and investigations bureaus.
My career was at its natural end in Charlotte after 25 years but I was not ready to stop my police leadership journey. I was hired as a Deputy Chief of the Albuquerque Police Department and have since been promoted to First Deputy Chief here. The APD is under a consent decree which adds many additional burdens above the challenges all police departments are facing across the country.
My wife and I recently celebrated our 26th anniversary and I have been blessed with an adult son who is married and a son who is a freshman at NM Tech and hopes to be an engineer. We enjoy exploring the beautiful state of NM along with traveling to other parts of the Western U.S.
