Matthew J. DeSarno
Mr. DeSarno entered on duty with the FBI as a Special Agent in 2002, and was assigned to the San Diego Field Office, conducted investigations targeting street gang and prison gang members. In 2009, he was assigned to lead the Chicago Field Office's Task Force on Gangs, and in 2013 he was promoted to Assistant Special Agent in Charge in the Chicago Field Office.
In 2015, Mr. DeSarno entered the Senior Executive Service as the chief of the Strategic Operations Section in the Counterterrorism Division, and in 2017, he was named the Deputy Assistant Director for Operations in the Counterterrorism Division where he led all FBI global counterterrorism operations and investigations.
In March 2018, Mr. DeSarno was selected to serve as the Special Agent in Charge of the Criminal/Cyber Division of the Washington Field Office, and in May 2019, Director Wray selected Mr. DeSarno to lead the Dallas Field Office.
Prior to joining the FBI, he served as an Infantry Officer assigned to the First Cavalry Division in Fort Hood, Texas. Mr. DeSarno is married with two daughters.
