Denis Tikhomirov has been serving as a Human Resources Officer at the United Nations’ Police Division of Office of Rule of Law and Security Institutions, Department of Peace Operations since 2008. Since that time, he was working on numerous projects and initiatives undertaken by the Division, including training-, gender mainstreaming-, and performance-related ones.
Currently, Mr. Tikhomirov oversees police training and project management activities, including the UNPOL Training Architecture Programme which is a joint initiative undertaken by the Department of Peace Operations together with UNODC, UNITAR, OHCHR and UN Member States.
Denis Tikhomirov has 17 years of experience with Russian Police since joining the service in 1994. In 2001 – 2008 he held the position of the Director of the Russian Federal Police Peacekeeping Training Centre. Denis was deployed twice to the United Nations Mission in Kosovo, in 1999 – 2001 and in 2004 – 2005.
Denis Tikhomirov holds a Ph.D. Degree in History as well as Master's Degree in Peace & Conflict Studies. He speaks English, Spanish, and Serbo-Croatian languages, in addition to his native Russian.
