Bill Amato is a partner in the firm of Edwards and Amato P.C., assisting law enforcement agencies with the unique and complex challenges facing law enforcement. The firm provides full scope representation for agencies within Arizona including extensive training programs for all levels. Bill, and his partner, Eric Edwards, provide legal advice, legal updates, policies, training, consultation and litigation support for their law enforcement clients.
Bill’s background began as a prosecutor at the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office. Bill spent 16 years at MCAO. Bill left MCAO in 2007 to join the Tempe Police Department as their Police Legal Advisor. For 13 years, Bill provided legal services and training for Tempe PD.
Bill has also consulted and trained pursuant to Consent Decree and Court Ordered Training and continues to provide training to other agencies nationally. Bill is the Immediate Past Chairperson of the IACP Legal Officers Section and created the Annual Mid-Year Training Conference for the LOS. Additionally, Bill is as an AZ POST subject matter expert and trainer. Bill also provides training to other Police Legal Advisors in Arizona and around the country.
