Prof. Fairley is a Professor from Practice at University of Chicago Law School where her teaching responsibilities include criminal procedure, policing, and federal criminal law.
Prof. Fairley spent eight years as a federal prosecutor partnering with federal, state, and local law enforcement on criminal investigations involving violent crimes, narcotics trafficking, national security and other criminal offenses. As First Deputy and General Counsel to the Chicago Inspector General, she was the chief legal officers and she also oversaw misconduct and corruption investigations. Prof. Fairley also served as Chief of Chicago's Independent Police Review Authority, the agency responsible for police misconduct investigations. In that leadership role, she spearheaded the creation of the Civilian Office of Police Accountability.
Prof. Fairley's academic research and writing focuses on criminal justice reform with an emphasis on police accountability.
Prof. Fairley holds a BS degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Eng'g from Princeton University, a Wharton MBA, and a JD from the University of Chicago Law school.
